Our Credentials

The American Sports Builders Association (ASBA) is an organization of builders, design professionals and manufacturers committed to upholding the highest standards of excellence in the sports construction industry. The Association was founded in 1965 by a group of contractors and suppliers who recognized the need to set industry standards while providing a forum to exchange ideas and address common issues. Today with over 350 members, the ASBA is considered the authority in sports construction practices. Headquartered in Ellicott City MD, the Association publishes a full set of construction guidelines as well as a comprehensive book in conjunction with the United States Tennis Association. The membership meets twice each year. A technical meeting is held in the late fall for seminars on construction techniques, new technology, business practices and product exhibits. A winter meeting is held to deal with general Association issues such as long range planning, membership quality, publication updates, certification and interaction with other sports bodies worldwide. Since 1979, the USTC & TBA has sponsored a builders certification program. The ultimate benchmark of knowledge and ability is to become a “Certified Tennis Court Builder”. The CTCB designation is awarded to qualified individuals who have passed a rigorous and thorough written examination, administered by the Association, that successfully demonstrates a comprehensive knowledge of the tennis court construction industry. A tri-annual recertification process insures that CTCB’s are involved and on the leading edge of our business.

BOTH BRUCE MAHLER AND DAVID MARSDEN ARE CERTIFIED TENNIS COURT BUILDERS.
